Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about barefoot bowling functions at the Brunswick Bowling Club.

  • Can I BYO drinks and/or food?

    No. Brunswick Bowling Club is a fully licensed venue, therefore outside beverages, including non-alcoholic beverages, are strictly prohibited. Our bar stocks a huge range of beers, non-alcoholic drinks and spirits at very reasonable prices. Any liquids brought into the venue will be taken by our staff and will be put behind the bar for collection upon exit. Unfortunately, we do not allow external catering. A great range of catering options including Canapes, Sharing Platters and BBQ Packs.

  • Parking & transport

    Brunswick Bowling Club is located at 104-106 Victoria Street, Brunswick East, just a short walk from Lygon Street and Nicholson Street, and tram routes 1 and 6. Our main entrance is located on Victoria Street and entry is also available via the carpark on Cross Street. The carpark accommodates approximately 30 cars and street parking is available on Cross Street, Albert Street and Victoria Street (please be sure to check parking signs as timed parking limits are enforced).

  • What if we've never bowled?

    No worries at all. Once all of your guests have arrived, a member of our staff will provide your group with a rundown of the game and a quick tutorial.

  • Do we have to bowl barefoot?

    Barefoot bowling is preferred but socks, thongs or flat, soft soled shoes are also acceptable. No type of heels, wedges or spikes are allowed.

  • What if it rains?

    We do not accept cancellations due to predicted weather forecasts. If on the day of your booking, weather restricts your group from being able to bowl, your booking may either be scheduled to another date of your choice.

  • What happens if I need to cancel?

    November/December/January Bookings: than happy to re-schedule your booking to another date, pending availability.

  • Can I bring the kids and dog?

    Children are always welcome at Brunswick Bowling Club, but please be aware that the greens are not playgrounds or parks, and children must be supervised at all times. If they want to get in on the fun we also have some sets of smaller bowls for smaller hands and sponge bowls available for tiny tots. Well behaved pets are allowed in outside areas of the club provided they are kept on a leash. We do not allow pets inside the club house or on the bowling green.

  • Can I play my own music?

    No. Portable speakers, sound equipment/devices and instruments are not permitted in outdoor areas or inside the club unless previously authorised by management.

  • How do I know my booking is locked in?

    Once payment has been made in full, your booking is confirmed and you will receive a confirmation in writing.

  • Is the club wheelchair accessible?

    Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible, including on the green.

  • Is smoking permitted on the premises?

    Yes. There are designated smoking areas available. Please refer to the signage at the club.

  • Can we set up a bar tab?

    A bar tab may be operated and charged on consumption with your choice of beverages. Upon arrival guests will be issued with wristbands which will provide them access to the tab. Should your guests wish to consume beverages not included in the tab selection, they will be available for them to purchase at regular bar prices. A valid credit card is required to open a tab. All tabs must be paid in full at the conclusion of your function/booking.
