Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about barefoot bowling functions at the Brunswick Bowling Club.

  • Can I BYO drinks and/or food?

    Brunswick Bowling Club is a fully licensed venue, therefore outside beverages, including nonalcoholic beverages, are strictly prohibited. Our bar stocks a decent range of beers, nonalcoholic drinks and spirits at reasonable prices. Any liquids brought into the venue will be taken by our staff and will be put behind the bar for collection upon exit. Brunswick Bowling Club offers a range of catering options for your upcoming event including BBQ Packs, Canapes, Sharing Platters and Smoked Delicacies. We do allow external catering, but conditions and/or charges may apply. Please contact the Club Manager for more information.

  • Parking & transport

    Entrance to the public car park, accommodating approximately 60 cars, is located on Cross Street. Public transport options include: trams No: 1 & 6 (Lygon St) and 96 (Nicholson St).

  • What if we've never bowled?

    No worries at all. Once all of your guests have arrived, a member of our staff will provide your group with a rundown of the game and a quick tutorial.

  • Do we have to bowl barefoot?

    Barefoot bowling is preferred but socks, thongs or soft flat soled shoes are also acceptable. No type of heels, wedges or spikes are allowed.

  • What if it rains?

    We do not accept cancellations due to predicted weather forecasts. If on the day of your booking, weather restricts your group from being able to bowl, your booking may either be scheduled to another date of your choice or 75% of the total bowls costs can be transferred to a bar tab.

  • What happens if I need to cancel?

    November/December Bookings: If you cancel more than 28 days prior to the date of your event, you can opt to transfer your booking to another date (pending availability), or have the deposit amount refunded back to you, minus a $50 administration fee. Any money paid in regards to catering cannot be refunded. Cancellations made within 28 days of your booking date cannot be refunded but we are more than happy to re-schedule your booking to another date of your choice, pending availability. Any requests to reschedule, cancel or refund bookings or deposits paid is at the discretion of the Club Manager.

  • Can I bring the kids and dog?

    Children are always welcome at Brunswick Bowling Club, but please be aware that the greens are not playgrounds or parks, and children must be supervised at all times. If they want to get in on the fun we also have some sets of smaller bowls for smaller hands and sponge bowls available for tiny tots. Well behaved pets are allowed in outside areas of the club. We do not allow pets inside the club house or on the bowling green.

  • Can I play my own music?

    Portable speakers, sound equipment and instruments are not permitted unless previously authorised by management.

  • How do I know my booking is locked in?

    To secure your event, a 50% deposit is required. If a deposit has not been received, the date/time may go to other interested parties. For events with catering, final numbers and payment must be made no later than 3 days before your event. Your deposit in non-refundable, but is transferable if you cancel less than 14 days prior to your event All outstanding amounts are to be paid on the day, at the conclusion of your event.

  • Is the club wheelchair accessible?

    Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible, including on the green.

  • Is smoking permitted on the premises?

    Yes. There are designated smoking areas available. Please refer to the signage at the club.

  • Can we set up a bar tab?

    Bar Tabs can be operated and charge on consumption on the day of your booking. Upon arrival guests will be issued with wristbands which will provide them access to your tab. Should your guests wish to consume beverages not included as a selection, these will be available at regular bar prices.
